Oddly enough I am going to start my review where I usually end it， the chili pepper level。 Ms。 Dodd’s most recent books have concentrated more on the suspense than romance。 Every Single Secret is the book where it all bursts out again; level four， ghost pepper。 Rowan Winterbourne aka Helen and Joe Grantham， the man Rowan believes is an assassin she hired for one of her clients， get down to business almost immediately。 I mean business business。 Sigh。 Ms。 Dodd writes wonderful ghost pepper scenes Oddly enough I am going to start my review where I usually end it， the chili pepper level。 Ms。 Dodd’s most recent books have concentrated more on the suspense than romance。 Every Single Secret is the book where it all bursts out again; level four， ghost pepper。 Rowan Winterbourne aka Helen and Joe Grantham， the man Rowan believes is an assassin she hired for one of her clients， get down to business almost immediately。 I mean business business。 Sigh。 Ms。 Dodd writes wonderful ghost pepper scenes。Don’t worry， there is still plenty of suspense， and humor， and twists， and turns。 Step right up my friend， there is something for everyone to enjoy。Rowan and Joe have both lived in fear of Gregory Torval， Rowan since her early teens。 They have also both lived wanting nothing more than to exact revenge for the death and terror that Torval has heaped upon their families。Grantham has scored a coveted invitation to Torval’s birthday party on the island Torval owns。 The island， only occasionally appears from the mists across from Rowan’s California Pacific coast lighthouse。 Grantham wants Rowan to go as herself， but only as his beautiful consort。 Yeah， like that is going to happen。Ms。 Dodd can be tricky; she will drop one line that makes you go back to reread to make sure you read it correctly。 A true jaw-dropper。 Later she will pick up the line with full explanation。 The villains were truly villainous， over the top crazy， with no redeeming characteristics。 Not terribly interesting。 I think that is the point。 Think of Hannah Arendt’s quote “For when I speak of the banality of evil…” Rowan makes a strong connection with the adorable BeBee。 BeBee is Torval’s consort but not his wife。 Which way will she go？Ms。 Dodd’s secondary characters often come close to overcoming the main characters， I always think they may be fighting it out， or rolling dice for supremacy somewhere in her computer。 There are twists， there are turns; some are expected， others are not。 I spoke of Ghost peppers earlier; did I also mention this is maybe a three Kleenex story？With all of Ms。 Dodd’s books， starting with the Virtual Falls series， my first reaction is always， “I want to move there”。 No different with Every Single Secret。 I can think of few writers who can better evoke a setting better than Ms。 Dodd。Ms。 Dodd’s books put you on an emotional seesaw。 She knows how to ramp up the suspense。 She also knows how to ramp up the laughter。 She had me howling with the new job she gave Joe。 Boy， wouldn’t I like to see how that one worked out。All in all a suspenseful story， a romantic story; a story that will quickly draw you in and keep you there。Thank you to Ms Dodd for the Advanced Readers Copy。 As to what are my secrets， lets just say the staff at the nursing home will think I’m totally bonkers， instead of telling the truth 。。。more

I tried a few times to read this but it’s just not my thing。 There is nothing inherently wrong with the book。 It’s your typical action based romantic suspense。 I just didn’t see depth in the characters and it wasn’t for me。 Thank you to netgalley for the copy of this book。
